From the Hochberg you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the magnificent natural scenery of the Chiemgau and Berchtesgaden Alps or of Lake Chiemsee, the Bavarian Sea, where King Ludwig II once resided in the castle. The Alpengasthof Hochberg is the ideal starting point for varied hikes or mountain bike tours through blooming meadows, forests and charming landscapes. In case of bad weather, the Chiemgau region with its cultural diversity as well as the cities of Munich or Salzburg invite you for excursions. The proximity of the freeway ensures short journey times.

In Summer

The summer in our region invites you to an excursion by bike to the Tüttensee, a boat trip on the Chiemsee to the Fraueninsel or Herreninsel as well as countless hikes to alpine pastures and peaks. Cultural diversity is offered by our historic saltworks town of Traunstein, as well as the Georgiritt, which takes place annually on Easter Monday. Nearby Salzburg attracts with cafes, theaters and the annual festival.

In Winter

In winter, the Tobi-Angerer cross-country ski trail inspires you to a cross-country trip with adventure value. The towns of Ruhpolding and Inzell invite you with a variety of cross-country ski trails, toboggan runs and winter hiking trails. The Ruhpolding Chiemgau Arena is the main venue for the annual Biathlon World Cup and is always worth a visit.
